Professional Learning Resources

Extend the thinking: Professional Learning Resource Package

Selected articles are accompanied by professional learning resources that help take its ideas beyond the page and into dialogue, inquiry and practice.

Rather than offering a prescribed model or ready-made answers, these resources create space for educators and leaders to think together, question assumptions, examine practice and exercise professional agency in context.

These resources are available to download for free.

What's included

Insight One-Pager
A visual synthesis of the article’s central ideas, designed as a quick reference, conversation starter or professional learning provocation.

Facilitation Guide
A structured 45–60 minute session for leadership teams, professional learning communities and educator groups. It supports examination of evidence, professional judgement, context and accountability—including where existing practices act as helpful scaffolds or constraining cages.

Praxis + Practice Tool
A reflection and action resource structured around five moves:

Notice → Interrogate → Decide → Act → Reflect

It helps individuals and teams examine an initiative, framework, assessment process or practice, and decide what to KEEP, ADAPT, REMOVE or EXPLORE.

How to use the package

Use the resources together as a professional learning sequence:

READ → REFLECT → DIALOGUE → INQUIRE → ACT

Or use them independently: the one-pager can prompt leadership discussion; the facilitation guide can structure a PLC session; and the Praxis + Practice tool can support reflection, inquiry or follow-up action.

There is no predetermined conclusion. The purpose is to enable thoughtful professional dialogue and reconnect evidence with the expertise, context, relationships and judgment that give it meaning in practice.

Because professional judgement is not something we exercise instead of evidence. It is how we make responsible use of evidence.

Why I think this works

I deliberately made the package sound inviting rather than promotional. These are not worksheets that tell teachers what to think; they help educators engage with your scholarship and develop their own informed praxis.

That distinction is particularly important for our agency as teachers.
