Education Systems Architect
Designing Learning Environments That Work
I design education systems that work for everyone involved, students, educators, and administrators. After 30 years in education and a PhD focused on system design, I've learned that most educational challenges aren't about people; they're about architecture.
I help educational institutions create systems that:
- Align resources with educational priorities
- Streamline administrative processes
- Support teaching effectiveness
- Enhance student outcomes
- Build sustainable improvement pathways

Outside of work, I design my life with the same intentionality I bring to school systems. I practice slowness through hand milling ancient grains for sourdough making, painting in the countryside, and gardening from seed to table. My miniature poodles Monty and Ivy usually supervise. These pursuits reinforce my belief that the best systems, whether in gardens or schools—create space for life to flourish and seek what is possible.
My Journey to Education Systems Architecture
The Beginning: Classroom Realities
My career began in the classroom and leadership in Primary and Secondary schools, where I experienced firsthand the gap between educational intentions and daily realities. I saw dedicated teachers working within systems that often created more obstacles than opportunities.
The Turning Point
While pursuing my PhD research and working as an academic, I had a revelation that would shape my entire approach: the problem isn't the people in education—it's the invisible architecture they navigate daily. Well-intentioned policies, disconnected initiatives, and misaligned systems were creating friction that no amount of individual effort could overcome.
Building the Bridge
This insight led me to develop a unique approach that bridges the gap between educational vision and practical implementation. I began working with schools and institutions to redesign their systems from the ground up.
Today: Systems That Serve People
Now, as an education systems architect, I help leaders create environments where good systems amplify human potential rather than constrain it. .

My Approach
Rather than applying generic solutions, I:
- Map your existing systems to identify hidden friction points
- Co-design solutions with your team
- Implement practical changes that build momentum
- Create systems that evolve with your institution

My Unique Edge
My differentiator lies in the depth and breadth of my experience across the entire educational landscape.
